Mumbai: FDA minister Narhari Zirwal of NCP stayed away from the state cabinet meeting on Wednesday in the wake of the controversy generated after a video showing him with a transgender person in a bedroom went viral last week. However, sources said that the politician had informed his party that he would be unable to attend the cabinet meeting because he had some work in Nashik. Zirwal hails from tribal-dominated Dindori district in Nashik.Congress party and anti-corruption activist Anjali Damania have demanded that Zirwal be sacked after the video came out. However, NCP leader Amol Mitkari has questioned the motive behind the video said it was a conspiracy against Zirwal who had been the first to demand that Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar should replace her late husband Ajit Pawar as head of the NCP after his death in an aircrash in January. This is the second controversy to besiege Zirwal. Just two months ago, the Anti-Corruption Bureau had caught a clerk in his office allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000.
