Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad police on Tuesday and Wednesday raided three places where gas from domestic LPG cylinders was transferred into small domestic and commercial cylinders.Separate complaints under sections 287, 288 (negligent conduct with respect to fire, combustible or explosive matter) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the relevant sections of the Essential Commodities Act were registered with the Dighi, Bhosari and Sangvi police on Wednesday.War-like tensions in the West Asia, especially around the Strait of Hormuz impacted the crude and petroleum supply to the East and Southeast Asia. Following the conflict, people are rushing to buy LPG cylinders, petrol and diesel. The Indian govt, however, issued several advisory to prevent panic buying.The Pimpri Chinchwad police commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey had warned stringent action against people who were involved in illegal LPG transfer from domestic to commercial cylinders.All police stations and crime branches have been told to keep a watch on such illegal activities. Acting on the directives, the Sangvi police on Wednesday raided a room at Pimple Gurav and arrested one person, who was found illegally transferring LPG from domestic cylinders to commercial cylinders. The police recovered cylinders and other material worth Rs 48,000 from the spot.On Wednesday night, the Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch raided a construction workers’ colony at Charholi. They found LPG was transferred from standard domestic to small cylinders.Additionally, the police took one person from Lohegaon into custody, who was also found indulged in the same illegal activity. He was also selling the small cylinders at higher rates. The police recovered material worth Rs 9,800 from the spot. A case was registered with the Dighi police.For the same offence, the Bhosari police on Wednesday night raided a shop at Bhagat Vasti in Bhosari.
