Mumbai: Several two-wheeler riders sustained minor injuries after skidding on the Vikhroli East-West connecting flyover on Friday, following an oil spill from a passing vehicle.The incident occurred when oil leaked onto the road surface, making the stretch slippery and causing multiple riders to lose control. Officials confirmed that while a few riders were injured, none suffered serious harm.The mishap took place a short distance ahead of the convoy of Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde, who was en route from Vikhroli to Powai for an event. On noticing the incident, the mayor immediately halted her convoy and stepped in to assist the injured. She interacted with the riders and ensured that they received prompt attention.She also alerted the traffic police and directed them to regulate vehicular movement on the flyover to prevent further accidents. Instructions were issued to provide first aid to those injured.Subsequently, the mayor contacted officials from the municipal ward office, fire brigade and the bridges department, directing them to coordinate and take immediate measures to clear the spill and restore safe traffic conditions on the flyover.
