MUMBAI: The Himanshu Roy Foundation has announced the Himanshu Roy Legacy Awards 2026, inviting nominations from across the country to honour individuals and institutions demonstrating courage, compassion and excellence in service to the nation. The nominations opened on March 4 and will remain open until April 30th 2026.Instituted in 2025, the awards commemorate the legacy of late IPS officer Himanshu Roy, who served in the Maharashtra cadre and was widely respected for his courage, ethical leadership and commitment to public service. The initiative aims to recognise individuals whose work reflects integrity, dedication and measurable social impact.The awards will be presented in three categories — National Security, Medicine & Healing, and Indian Classical Music. The National Security category will honour officers, security professionals and institutions working to safeguard the country, while the Medicine & Healing category will recognise doctors, researchers and healthcare institutions advancing medical care and patient welfare. The Indian Classical Music category will celebrate artistes and organisations contributing to the preservation and promotion of India’s classical music heritage. Each award carries a cash prize of ₹5 lakh.Bhavna Roy, Chairperson of the Foundation, said the awards seek to recognise individuals whose work upholds the highest ethical standards and contributes meaningfully to society. Author Amish Tripathi, co-founder of the Foundation, said recognising those who uphold values of discipline, ethics and service strengthens society.An independent jury will review nominations in May 2026, with the awards ceremony scheduled for June.
