Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is getting ready to roar in cinemas as the voice of Mufasa in the upcoming live-action entertainer ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’. The film will hold a special significance to the superstar as it marks his first joint venture with both his sons – AbRam Khan and Aryan Khan. While SRk voices the older version of Mufasa, his mini-me AbRam will make his voice actor debut by lending his voice to young Mufasa. Aryan, on the other hand, will reprise his role as Simba, after first voicing the character in the 2019 film, ‘The Lion King’.
In a new video posted online, Shah Rukh shared his connection with the iconic character, known for his wisdom, strength, and compassion. Opening up about what he can relate to the best, besides sharing the ‘King’ title, Khan said, “You relate to the character because he is kind, strong, powerful, sweet, and family-oriented. These are qualities we all aspire to have.”
Adding a playful personal note, Shah Rukh also reminisced about his youthful days. “When I was younger, my hair was like Mufasa’s mane,” he said with a laugh. “I relate to it because my hair was like Mufasa’s.”
The upcoming film is a prequel to the 2019 live-action adaptation of The Lion King and explores the rise of Mufasa, from an orphaned lion cub to claiming his throne. The movie will release in Indian cinemas on December 20, 2024, in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, ensuring a wide reach for audiences across the country.
Directed by Barry Jenkins, the English version of the film will see Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, John Kani, and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter reprise their roles, while new cast members include Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Tiffany Boone, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Lennie James, Anika Noni Rose, and Blue Ivy Carter in her feature film debut.
Proud parents Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan can’t get over Aryan Khan’s voice as Simba in ‘The Lion King’
