Veteran actor Atul Parchure, known for his remarkable comedic timing and versatility in both Bollywood and Marathi cinema, passed away on October 14 at the age of 57, following a long battle with cancer.
His funeral was held on Tuesday, October 15, at 11 am at the Shivaji Park Crematorium. The funeral ceremony saw numerous celebrities from the film industry in attendance to bid a final farewell.Among those who paid their last respects were Mahesh Manjrekar, Shreyas Talpade, Sachin Khedekar, Suchitra Bandekar, and Nivedita Saraf. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Raj Shrikant Thackeray also arrived for Antim Darshan.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed his heartfelt condolences on social media, mourning the loss of a versatile actor who could evoke both laughter and tears from his audience. “The premature exit of a talented actor, someone who could make the audience laugh heartily and, at times, bring tears to their eyes is deeply painful. The untimely demise of such a thoughtful and accomplished actor as Atul Parchure is a great loss. From his early days in Balrangbhumi, he showcased remarkable talent, leaving a lasting impact across drama, film, and television. We have lost a distinguished Marathi actor with his departure,” he wrote.
Atul Parchure’s career spanned across Marathi and Hindi theatre, where he starred in notable productions like Tarun Turk Mhatare Arka, Priyatama, and Vasu Chi Sasu. This extensive experience eventually led to his transition into television and film, marking his debut in the Hindi movie ‘Bedardi’, which was released in 1993.
