‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video‘ released with Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Jigra‘ on Friday. The Rajkummar Rao starrer has an edge over ‘Jigra’ due to the fact that it’s more massy and caters to the single screens, also in the two and three tier cities. Meanwhile, ‘Jigra’ is niche and more of a multiplex film. Thus, it’s obvious that ‘Vicky Vidya…’ would perform slightly better than ‘Jigra’.However, the collections of both the movies over the first weekend, has been dull.
On Monday, both the films saw a huge drop, but that’s what happens with most movies. It’s not easy to pass the Monday test. After clocking in Rs 18.8 crore over the first three days, the film made Rs 2.25 crore on Monday. This is a drop of about Rs 4 crore from the Sunday number which was Rs 6.4 crore. According to Sacnilk, the film’s total collection so far is Rs 21.05 crore.
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt’s ‘Jigra’ made Rs 1.5 crore on Monday. According to trade website boxofficeindia, ‘Vicky Vidya…’ did not perform well in the Mumbai circuit and that’s what led to the overall dull collection of the film. It did much better in Delhi, UP, as compred to Mumbai. The film has collected around 10-15 percent more than ‘Jigra’ and both the movies were heavily affected due to Navratri, especially on Friday and Saturday.
The trade has also predicted that while there’s no such adult content in the movie, it’s the title of – ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ which has kept the family audience away from the movie, in areas like Gujarat.
